Mobilicity is about to launch the Galaxy Nexus. All major carriers in Canada have already launched the first device to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, but a few regional operators have yet to make it available.

Mobilicity confirmed several hours ago on its official Twitter account that the Galaxy Nexus would be released on February 6. There’s no info on the phone’s pricing options yet, but more details will surely surface closer to the launching date.

The folks over at MobileSyrup also suggest that once Mobilicity launches the Galaxy Nexus, other carriers such as WIND Mobile and Videotron will release their versions as well.

However, until Mobilicity goes live with the Galaxy Nexus, Android fans who don’t want to wait for two more weeks can purchase it from Bell, TELUS, Rogers or Virgin Mobile for about $ 99.99 (75 EUR) with a new three-year agreement.

With Ice Cream Sandwich on board, Galaxy Nexus is surely improving users’ Android experience due to its newly unlocked features.

The smartphone’s 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, features zero shutter lag capability. With this feature users will be able to take multiple shots instantly, as soon as they click on the camera key.

The phone is powered by a more than decent 1.2 Ghz dual core TI OMAP 4460 CPU, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit.

On the inside, Galaxy Nexus packs 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM, but no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Another strong point of the smartphone is the 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with oleophobic coating. The display supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

The phone’s 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 270 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time (in 3G mode).
